New Beginnings

I am officially a third of the way done with my student teaching experience, which means that there are many professional development opportunities coming my way. Lately my emails have become flyers for career fairs across different parts of the state, so I have been putting my name out there. Last semester, one of the professors gave us brief information about us having the opportunity to have mock interviews with people who are seeking their principalship in their township. Needless to say, I was one of about thirty ELED majors that signed up as soon as I got the information for it.

I was happy that I had the experience to interview with eight different people during my afternoon. When I arrived, I was nervous, my heart beating out of my chest and feeling my entire body sweat (if you haven't noticed, I get really anxious sometimes), especially since I was currently bouncing back from my second cold in a month. After my first interview with someone from the Vigo county area, I felt better and answered everyone's questions to the best of my ability. My favorite interview was with a potential principal from Pike Township; we clicked instantly because he has kids in the Fishers area and was from the southside of Indy like I was. I also enjoyed receiving feedback from the interviewers after each rotation. Each and every one of them remarked that they could see the passion in my eyes and hear it in my voice and were sold when I remarked that "Everytime I come home and say that I'm tired, the inner workings of my brain say that with everything I've been doing for those kids, it's worth it." Three years ago, I never would have thought that God would have this plan for me and to be so passionate in something that I love doing and I am so grateful for the never-ending experiences I've had in the classroom.

Until next time,

Sarah
