The 100th Day of School

It's been a while since I last wrote, but it's a good thing because that means I've been busy, busy, busy. But I don't mind it. I don't mind coming home exhausted, throwing on pajamas, and being dead asleep by 9:30; it's great to come home knowing that Mrs. H. and I are putting together activities that we know our kids will enjoy.
Speaking of activities, Mrs. H came up with a last minute idea to celebrate the 100th Day of School with all of the 4th graders. Normally in the elementary school, celebrating the 100th Day sounds primary and the older kids aren't as excited. On the Friday before, Mrs. H downloaded the Aging Booth app on her phone and took each kid's picture without telling them why she was doing so. When the kids came to school Monday, they were given a printed picture of themselves as being 100 years old and were instructed to write about what they think they will do when they became that age. We even got the class next door to participate with us.
This was one of my favorites from a student of mine:

Mrs. H and one of the third grade teachers wanted to throw a Family Math Night for all of the students with a Superbowl theme. Each grade level had a table and laid out math activities for students and their families to play. Afterwards, they would receive a small prize, which yours truly manned:

It was a good turnout for the school's first time hosting a math night. There were other math activities that students could do in the gym, such as measuring the distance of how long a football was thrown and playing corn hole. We even had a raffle for items that were from Indiana State, Rose Hulman, and West Vigo High School as well as an estimation jar full of 481 Hershey Kisses (Yes, I counted those too.) The best part was that one of the staff had the best guess and won the chocolate, which ended up being shared among all of the staff and student teachers the very next day.
It's been a busy couple of weeks, but fret not, I will write sometime within the next week.
